Welcome to the January Wrap Up of the McCartney.com newsletter. This is coming to you Feb 1st because as you can imagine, we were more than a little busy this past Grammy week ;)

(created by Martin Nethercutt)

Dear Alan ,

This year started on a somber note. We are all reminded of the fact that life is short and unforeseen events of nature can disrupt our daily lives. We urge all our friends and clients to help out in the effort to rebuild Haiti.

They need our help. Here's what you can do:

Well, it's off into a New Decade!

2010 is the Chinese Year of the Tiger. It seems that this is going to be great energy for all our endeavors in business and in life. Although it doesn't actually start until February 14th, 2010, I think we should take the symbol to heart and prepare for a fresh beginning. Here are some attributes that should give us energy to start the new decade...

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2010 is the Year of the Tiger, which commences on February 14, 2010 and ends on February 2, 2011. The Tiger is the third sign in the Chinese Zodiac cycle, and it is a sign of bravery. This courageous and fiery fighter is admired by the ancient Chinese as the sign that keeps away the three main tragedies of a household. These are fire, thieves and ghosts.

Tigers are physically powerful, gracious, independent and brave, they are extremely bold animals. They are friendly and loving but can also be selfish and short tempered. Tigers seek attention and power; frequently they are envious in a relationship. Tigers live dangerously, which often leads to trouble. They are intolerant, take risks and are always searching for excitement. Tigers are also instilled with a good dose of courage.

That said, here's what happened...

More Relief

One Million in 1 Month for Haiti

Iron Chef Cat Cora and iFanz team up to help out.

'Iron Chef' Cat Cora's heart sank when she heard about those displaced by the earthquake in Haiti, so she decided to give her culinary colleagues a challenge of their own: Raise $1 million in one month.

Through her organization Chefs for Humanity and the United Nations World Food Programme, Cora donated $10,000 from her own savings and asked others to match it. "My goal is to get 99 people to match my donation," Cora tells PopEater. So far everyone from Rachael Ray, Guy Fieri and Paula Deen have stepped forward. And her efforts won't stop there. By March, Cora plans to be stationed in Haiti serving food to those in need.

After the jump, Cora chats more about her relief efforts, how she's juggling her work (and raising four boys), plus what's in store for the new season of 'Iron Chef America.'

Chefs for Humanity (http://www.chefsforhumanity.org/) is a grassroots not-for-profit (501c-3) organization of culinary professionals and educators working in partnership with U.S. and global initiatives, providing emergency feeding relief and hunger aid in times of natural catastrophe.  Our Chefs Corps volunteer their time, expertise, culinary, & nutritional knowledge work to support national and world-wide relief programs working to reduce hunger.

In Passing...

Mike Colman

Jan 12, aged 58. Violinist who played in a band at his public school with the boys who were later to found Genesis. From a musical family, Colman was head chorister at Salisbury Cathedral and won a music scholarship to Charterhouse, where he met the future music stars Mike Rutherford, Peter Gabriel and Anthony Phillips. The band thrived and went on to make its members wealthy. At 15, however, Colman was expelled from the school for smoking cigarettes. He moved to London, where he began busking; unable to afford to travel to the band's rehearsals, he left. Trained as a classical violinist, and later wrote music for films, TV and computer games. He also was the featured soloist (with his Stradavarius) on Ruth's track Kidnap Your Heart from her CD I Will Always Remember You. Our thoughts go out to his family, Rose, Chris H, Pete W and Karl D. Mike, you will be missed.

 Angie's One Liners

The roundest knight at King Arthur's round table was Sir Cumference. He acquired his size from too much "pi".

A rubber band pistol was confiscated from algebra class because it was a weapon of math disruption.

The short fortune-teller who escaped from prison was a small medium, at large.

The man who survived mustard gas and pepper spray is now a seasoned veteran.

Have you made a resolution to lose wight?
Did you know experts say Green Tea can help.
Get yours today at http://mrsmccartneysteas.com/green-tea.php

Mrs. Angie McCartney's Toasted Rice Green Tea - or Gen Mai Sencha is an aroma filled, nutty flavoured blend of organic Japanese green tea and husked grains of roasted brown rice. Low in caffeine, it can be enjoyed any time of day or evening.
Japanese Buddhist monks who travelled to China to learn Buddhism on their return brought some tea seeds and tea bushes and started growing tea around the Buddhist monasteries. For the Japanese, tea is more than just a drink. The tea ceremony, whose aim is to help the spirit find peace, has effectively straddled centuries and borders.

Key Health Benefits* of Green Tea
The secret of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly EGCG which is a powerful anti-oxidant: besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells without harming healthy tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots.

  iPad is here...

It has finally been unveiled. The mystery is over. Apple releases the brand new iPad to a cheering audience in San Francisco. Looks like the days of the Amazon Kindle are numbered. And here at McCartney Multimedia, we are feverishly working away on an app for the medical related field.  If you feel you need an iPad ap for your business, please contact us today.

What can I do with the iPad?

Apple is banking that its new tablet will change the way people consume media, be it traditional media and new media like videos and music.

Magazine, book and newspaper publishers are talking with Apple about providing material already, and reports indicate some studios are also negotiating. There is a built in iPod, meaning you can load movies and music from your personal library, or from the iTunes online store.

Web-browsing is supported also.

Essentially Apple is positioning the iPad to sit between the smartphone and the fully-fledged laptop computer, but time will tell if there is true demand. The release to the public is about 3 months away, according to Steve Jobs. Read more...
