Dear Alan ,

Welcome to the Volume 7 edition of the McCartney Multimedia Newsletter.

It's been a while since our last communication and we've been involved in so many new and exciting projects that we wanted to wait until completion so we can showcase it all in this volume. So, it was announced this week that the recession was officially over in June of 2009 so now we all need to move forward with renewed energy and conviction.

Here's how we make it happen:

Supercharge your Web Site with McCartney Magic

Is your web site optimized and fully ready for Q4? Studies predict this year's online holiday shopping figures will shatter all previous records.

• Do you know if your site's keywords and searchable tags are up to date?

• Can you track your visitors and popular pages?

• Where do you come up in Google?
For example: Copy the following obscure tea flavour into Google Search: "Genmai Sencha" and look who comes up #2:)

• Does your site work on an iPad/Smart Phones? Did you know that the iPad has surpassed the DVD player and the iPhone, in terms of adoption speed. More than three million tablets have been sold in its first 80 days. The iPad is on track to sell 4.5 million in its first quarter of sale. If your site is in old Flash coding you are missing all those potential viewers. Let us convert it for you.

• Do you have a Facebook Page for your business/band? If so, are you collecting actual leads/data from it? With our iFanz technology we can now embed a live data collection lead form into your Facebook Fan Page.

Contact us today to enquire about these eMarketing widgets - starting at just $99. Don't get left in the shadows this holiday season.

McCartney Multimedia and MATIvision

What you are about to see is revolutionary.

The possibilities you're about to discover are limitless. McCartney Multimedia, Inc. represents the world's ONLY - yes that's right we said ONLY, truly interactive multi-angle 360 spherical online video technology in existence. Others claim to have 360. It's almost true if you consider a "ribbon" of images captured by several stand-alone cameras, crammed into a cumbersome housing, and then stitched together in editing into a circle as a 360 "experience". MATIvision - the technology we proudly represent has gone many steps beyond those old concepts with Multi Angle Totally Interactive Vision (Worldwide Patents both granted and pending). Recently completed projects include "So You Think You Can Dance" for FOX in Hollywood, and a 7 camera shoot of supergroup MUSE at London's Wembley Stadium.

Think like an insect sees. A sphere. A globe, up, down, left right, behind you. Think totally portable cameras the same size as a coffee mug.

Think streaming live from red carpet, political, fashion or sports events. Imagine having web content so sticky that the average consumer watches it 8 times. Now let us show you how we can embed "hotspots" to drive e-commerce from the video content and even "iTicketz!" to create virtual concerts and events for users to attend and enjoy online. Capture the images once and reap the benefits many times over. MATIvision and McCartney. Don't flat line when you see it ....the horizon is now a sphere....

Skeptical Patient

With everything from logo development all the way to a sophisticated time management/appointment system and the ability to video conference and securely message a Doctor online, McCartney has developed the cutting edge SkepticalPatient.com for Dr. Himanshu and Lisa Shukla of Scottsdale AZ.

ARE YOU A SKEPTICAL PATIENT?

"We believe that all consumers are somewhat skeptical (as we should be), and therefore consumers of health care are skeptical patients. Nowadays, almost 85% of all patients will seek health information on the Internet. With libraries of information, and so may opinions and choices online, it’s difficult to ascertain accuracy and personal information. Sorting through information resulting from a basic search, and trying to apply the information to your health can be - at best - of minimal help, but can also often lead to inconclusive information, and - at worst - a false sense of security. So that leads us to ask are you a Skeptical Patient? If so, well done!"

First Ladies Initiative

First Ladies Initiative
McCartney recently developed this online brochure site for The First Ladies Initiative which works together with their partners to:
• Empower First Ladies, their advisors, and staff by increasing capacity in policy-making and analysis, program development and evaluation, and advocacy.
• Establish standards and develop guidance on best practices required to run an effective First Lady's office.
• Improve health and livelihood of target populations, particularly women and children.
• Generate global support for First Lady-led programs through strategic partnerships with agencies and grassroots organizations.
• Foster the development of a global action network of current and former First Ladies in Africa and worldwide. Visit the site.

Music National Service

We spent a wonderful evening hosted by Sat Bisla (MusExpo) who introduced us to the Music National Service (MNS) at the London Hotel West Hollywood. The purpose of the event was to encourage the youth as well as companies and entrepreneurs to do more for music education.

Music National Service is a national nonprofit and movement that supports music as a strategy for public good. MNS recently launched a domestic “musical Peace Corps” called MusicianCorps in four cities – SF/Oakland Bay Area, Chicago, New Orleans and Seattle – where twenty MusicianCorps Fellows serve full-time in public schools, parks and recreation centers, childrens and veterans hospitals, public housing communities and elsewhere in return for a living stipend, health benefits and professional development.

MusicianCorps recruits, trains and places musicians in high-need settings in order to strengthen communities, develop 21st century skills (like teamwork, discipline, perseverance, risk-taking, critical thinking, etc.) and spread music wherever music can reach, teach or heal.

Our dear Canadian friends "Jonas and the Massive Attraction" have a new album out.
Check it out on iTunes!

Jonas Tomalty is a Canadian rock singer born in Montreal in 1979. His first success "Edge of Seventeen" (a cover of the old success of Stevie Nicks) appeared on his first EP album in 2004. It was soon followed by another hit "Show Me", that took him to the top of the Québec charts.

His second album Suite Life was released in October 2006. This album featured the rock anthem "SuperSexMe", which was the first single from it. In 2007 Jonas released his third album "Promised Land" This album contained the best from his first two albums, and also featured a video on the disc for his song "SuperSexMe".

Also in 2007, he released the movie Jonas: La Quete (The Quest) and a soundtrack to accompany it. Ruth has a cameo in the opening.
The DVD for the movie was released on January 15, 2008

About the Band: Jonas and The Massive Attraction

Jonas is the lead singer of the band which also features guitarist Corey Diabo, a Mohawk from Kahnawake, a Native American community located just outside Montreal.

The album "The Quest" was released in support of a "rock-umentary" about the band and was only available in French with English subtitles. Both the DVD and CD versions of "The Quest" featured live performance from the band's sold-out Bell Centre concert in Montreal.

There are many more fun videos of the guys on the road at the Massive Attraction's YouTube Channel.

Julian Lennon showcases his photography at the Morrison Hotel Gallery in NYC.

And all here wish John a Happy 70th on Saturday.

Tech Tip

Browser WarsThe Browser / App Wars
(by Martin Nethercutt)

Have you noticed recently how Apple is going up against web sites that have been built in Flash? We had a client come in the other day who complained that his web site wouldn't work on the new iPad he just bought.

Here we go again...

After Adobe's acquisition of Macromedia years ago, Flash content is now labeled as a "PC" product. It was only April this year when Steve Jobs declared an all-out war on Adobe, saying its products were outdated, poorly designed and unworthy of space on Apple's mobile products.

Well, where does that leave the developer?
We recommend you leave your current (Flash) website the way it is and prepare a more streamlined iPad/iPhone version.
You can also build a custom iPad/iPhone app, but with more and more users experiencing "app fatigue" (downloading an app from the Apple App store, only to look at it once and then never launching it again), we suggest you're better off with an alternative microsite.

Where does this leave the client?
Until these platform wars are settled, you are best served with an alternative Microsite that users can access directly off your home page, if they have an iPad or access it via their iPhone. With that method your clients get the best of both worlds. Your beautifully designed Flash web site displays in a standard browser and the alternate site is tailor made for mobile display.

Maybe, just maybe, in the not too distant future, everything will be "Open Source" and we won't have to deal with these issues anymore. However, as long as Apple's making money, and as long as Windows is still around my bet is that we are going to have to live with these Platform wars a little while longer.

Find out how you can convert the contents of your current Flash Web site into a mobile site.

Angie's One Liners

Amazing, you hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks two sizes.

The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.

On a more serious note: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and so don't forget that a portion of the sale of every box of Mrs McCartney's Organic Teas goes to the Linda McCartney Centre for research and treatment.

Hang out with Angie on Facebook.
